FAQ

ER Katy FAQ

Why should I seek treatment at ER Katy instead of a local hospital?

Free-standing Emergency Rooms are full-service Emergency Rooms that are licensed by the State of Texas and function separately from a hospital. ER Katy employs Board Certified physicians who specialize in Emergency Medicine. At ER Katy, you’ll be treated in an Emergency Room environment without the long wait times of the traditional hospital emergency room.  State-of-the-art imaging equipment, as well as a full-service, on-site laboratory and pharmacy allow us to provide the same level of care you might find in a local hospital setting, but in a more efficient, and patient-centered manner.  And parking is easy, too.

Are the doctors at ER Katy Board Certified in Emergency Medicine?

ALL of our physicians are Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and are required to stay abreast of best practices and current treatments, and maintain their continuing medical education (CME) credits, a strict requirement for maintaining board certification by the Texas Medical Board.

What insurance plans do you accept?

At ER Katy, we accept ALL major insurance plans, including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and Cigna. Under Texas law, if your medical problem is an emergency, your insurance company must treat your claim as an in-network claim. Read more about our insurance policies.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

Unfortunately, Medicare and Medicaid do not recognize free-standing Emergency Rooms, as they require care through traditional settings; therefore, they will not pay for care. If you have Medicare and would like to be seen, you have the option of being seen as a “Prompt Pay” patient by signing a waiver which allows us to provide care to you. You will be fully responsible for payment and cannot legally file a claim with Medicare.

Can I be treated if I do not have insurance?

Yes. We can care for you as a “Responsible Pay/Self Pay” patient. We accept all major credit cards, cash, and personal checks.

Do I need to make an appointment?

No. Because we know that emergencies aren’t planned, we are open 24/7, 365 days a year to accommodate your treatment needs. Come on in. We’ll be ready for you.

What types of treatments do you provide at ER Katy?

Please visit our Care and Services page for a detailed list of the most common emergency medical treatments we provide. If you don’t see your condition listed, call us at (281) 395-9900. We are happy to speak with you and instruct you about the best care or treatment plan. We can do everything they do in the hospital Emergency Rooms without the wait.

Will I be sent home with a clear post-care instruction plan?

Yes. We will review a specific post-care plan with you in person, and you will be sent home with a copy of clear instructions on what you may or may not do after your treatment, as well as possible drug interactions, exercises, and a follow-up plan.

If I have a question about my bill, who do I contact?

I was very pleased with their hospitality and the way they treated me as a patient. The facility is very nice and made feel right at home. The receptionist, nurse, and the ER doctor were awesome. I have no doubt in my mind that if I need to go to an ER room, that it will be this facility.. good place….good people!
